Nørra stores your meal data on your device. We do not sell your data, show you ads, or share your health information with third parties. Your photos are processed by AI and not stored on our servers.

02What data we collect
Nørra is designed to be private by default. Here is exactly what we collect, and why.
Data stored only on your device- Meal logs — food names, estimated portions, health scores, timestamps
- Meal photos you choose to save — stored in app-private storage, not your gallery
- App settings and preferences
- Credit balance
- Photos you submit for AI analysis — processed immediately and not stored on our servers
- Anonymous scan analytics — meal item count, scan duration, model used; no personal identifiers
- Credit purchase transactions — processed via Google Play and RevenueCat
- Your name, email address, or account information — no account required
- Location data
- Device identifiers for advertising purposes
- Your meal history or health data on our servers
03How we use your data
We use the data described above solely to:
- Provide the meal analysis service — AI-powered food recognition and scoring
- Process and verify in-app credit purchases
- Improve the accuracy of food recognition and health scoring
- Maintain service reliability and diagnose technical issues
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.
04AI meal analysis and photos
When you photograph a meal, the image is sent to an AI service (Google Gemini via OpenRouter) for food recognition. This processing happens in real time. Photos are not stored on our servers after analysis is complete.
The AI service processes your image under their own privacy policy. We send only the image data necessary for analysis — no account information or personal identifiers are attached.
05In-app purchases
Credit purchases are processed by Google Play and RevenueCat. We receive confirmation of successful purchases but do not handle payment card information directly. Purchase data is governed by Google Play's privacy policy and RevenueCat's privacy policy.
06Data storage and security
Your meal logs, photos, and settings are stored in app-private storage on your device. This data is not accessible to other apps, and is deleted when you uninstall Nørra.
Meal photos are stored in a dedicated folder within app-private storage and are automatically deleted when you delete a meal.
07Your rights under GDPR
As a resident of the European Union, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of access — you can view all your data within the app at any time.
- Right to deletion — you can delete individual meals or all data from within the app, or by uninstalling Nørra.
- Right to portability — export functionality is planned for a future update.
- Right to object — you can contact us to object to any processing of your data.

08Data retention
Since your meal data is stored on your device, retention is entirely in your control. We do not retain personal data on our servers beyond what is necessary to complete a scan request — typically seconds.
Anonymous analytics data may be retained for up to twelve months for the purpose of improving the service.
09Third-party services
Nørra uses the following third-party services:
- Google Gemini / OpenRouter — AI meal analysis
- RevenueCat — in-app purchase management
- Google Play — app distribution and payment processing
Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We select services that align with our commitment to user privacy.
10Children's privacy
Nørra is not directed at children under the age of thirteen. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@norraapp.com.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
Continued use of Nørra after changes to this policy constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
